Sandbox mode vs live mode

Sandbox shows fictional test data and spends nothing; live returns real people and spends credits.

Sandbox

Every new site starts in sandbox mode.
Matches are fictional people and companies on example.com and example.org addresses, labeled with the source "sandbox".
No credits are spent.
Use it to check your tag, filters, and destinations end to end.

Live

Turn sandbox off for a site under Sites.
Matches are real and spend credits (one per person per calendar month).
Live sites only accept events sent from your own domain or its subdomains, so nobody else can spend your credits by copying your tag.

For the API

API keys work the same way: wl_test_ keys return sandbox data and never spend credits; wl_live_ keys return real data. See test API keys.
